Climate Smart Committee

The Village of East Nassau Climate Smart Committee is trying to help our community reduce greenhouse gas emmissions and adapt to the changing climate by promoting programs at the local level and advocating for policies locally and beyond that make climate impact a primary consideration of all activities.

The committee, chaired by village board member Lydia Davis, meets regularly with contributors from the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County and the Capital District Regional Planning Commission as well as Village of East Nassau community members.  The committee currently meets weekly on Thursdays at 9:00am via zoom.  Contact Lydia Davis for the zoom link.

Hudson River Estuary Annual Trees for Tribs Program

If you own or manage land along a tributary stream of the tidal Hudson River, you can now apply to receive free native plants to help reduce erosion and improve habitat along your stream. Plants are available for large projects (more than 60 plants) on both public and privately-owned lands. Hudson River Estuary staff can help you with a planting plan and work with your volunteers.
